&Bobi in Krushevo
- 2 August 1999 - Ilinden -
On the second of August we visited legendary city of Krushevo . We were part of a huge national celebration
of historical Krushevo revolution that occured on the same day in 1903 . In that time Macedonians rised against
Ottomans , and liberated city of Krushevo for 10 days .After the battle of "Mechkin Kamen" - Macedoinans lost , and Ottomans gaigned rule of Krushevo . It was one of our legendary revolutions against 5 centuries rule of Ottoman Empire in Macedonia. So , in every second of August , lot of Macedonians go to Krushevo and celebrate this historical event with music , dances , barbique , and with a speech of the president or primeminister of the state .It was nice expirience for Natali & me , because we felt proud to be Macedonians.Finnaly we as Macedonian nation are turning to our selves ,exploring our own national roots and I hope we will start to have more respect to our own nation .
These two pictures are from the place of "the last battle" - Mechkin Kamen . As usual , we had a small picnic , we took some sendwiches , coke , and of course - Turkish coffe !!!
On the top of the hill , there is other monument , called "Macedonium".It is on the picture below.Inside of this monument there is a grave of the first President of liberated Krushevo in those 10 days - his name is Nikola Karev .
We also visited this monument , first it was closed ( can You imagine - on the day of celebration , this monument was closed!! ) , but later , after a hour , the gate was open , and we could visit and pay respect to Nikola Karev`s grave .
